Sir Elton John took to the stage yesterday night in New Plymouth’s Bowl of Brooklands. As he appeared, the rainy skies cleared and 2 beautiful rainbows arched across the Taranaki sky. An estimated fifteen thousand fans sat in the damp to see their favorite star. The performer took his appreciative audience on a trip down memory yellow-brick-road with his legendary hits, including Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Daniel, Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock Honky Cat, Rocket Man, Philadelphia Freedom, , and Bennie and the Jets, and many more.

Vancouver show was the first Spice Girls full concert in 9 years that involved all 5 members of the band. Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, and Melanie Brown performed twenty-two songs that included tracks from their solo careers as well as some of the tunes, which made the group world famous. Chandler Symphony Orchestra decided to add a second show to its annual Sun Lakes holiday performance. Sellout crowds have prompted to do so. The seasonal concerts have sold out every performance since it started in Sun Lakes in ’03. Alan Wilkie, the symphony’s board of directors and a first violinist for the orchestra said this season’s tickets are going as fast as in previous years. Tickets for the show are still available for Sunday’s 6 p.m. performance

Amy Winehouse faces a bill for half a million pounds and prohibitive insurance costs on future bookings after she has cancelled last night’s gig and all remaining tour dates. Thousands of the performer’s fans with tickets to see the 24-year-old at venues in Wales, England, and Ireland were left upset by Amy’s last night’s decision. The singer’s fans on their way to last night’s concert at the Bournemouth International Centre were really angry at the late-notice cancellation, however, they were not surprised

Rihanna is a hot Carribean singer, who topped a number of charts all over the world. She released 3 albums: “Music of the Sun”, “A Girl Like Me”, “Good Girl Gone Bad”. She has taken by storm both American and European music charts. Her first album was awarded a gold certification from the RIAA and two platinum certifications. Her singles like “SOS”, “Unfaithful”, “Umbrella” was the # 1 song in American, European and U.K music charts. “Umbrella” was the #1 song in the UK for 10 weeks in succession. It has become the longest running #1 song by a female singer since 1992. Rihanna’s “Good Girls Gone Bad” album has been awarded a platinum certification by the United World Albums Chart.

JLo has recently announced that she wants perform together with the Spice Girls during their forthcoming world tour. It is very interesting, why so? The reason is Jennifer Lopez is good friends with Posh Spice Victoria Beckham and wants to join them on their reunion gigs, which is scheduled to be held in in Los Angeles later this year. According to JLo’s words, she would love take part on their tour and share the same stage with the marvelous Spice Girls. JLo never denied that Posh was always her favourite even before they were friends.

U2 will have the only one scheduled performance in America this year, and that will be accompanied by the Chemical Brothers (staring Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons). You will probably not be surprised to find out that U2 have already sold over 720,000 copies of their famous album All That You Can’t Leave Behind and what is more they will perform the songs presented in this album at the My VH1 Music Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles, on Thursday, November, 30. The Chems, in their turn, will release a new edition of their Music: Response EP and will pop up this event by performing a DJ set at the Centro-Fly club in New York on December 2.

An American rock band One Republic has released a new hit single Apologize together with Timbaland’s Timabaland Presents: Shock Value. In fact, many of us know Timbaland, but how many of us have heard of One Republic? Even the performer of the single Apologize, where the band does most of the singing is called “Timbaland feat. One Republic”.

One Republic’s members include Ryan Tedder – vocals, guitar, piano; Zach Filkins – guitar, vocals, Edie Fisher – drums, percussion; Brent Kutzle – bass guitar, cello, vocals; Drew Brown – guitar. Their single Apologize became a hit within the first weeks since its release day. Selling a huge number of digital downloads, the song has reached #2 of Hot 100 in October 27, 2007.

On August 2, 2007, One Republic performed Apologize live on Fox’a So you Think You Can Dance, and in October, 2007 they sang it on an episode of One Life to Live together with Timbaland.

The guys from One Republic have just finished recording their debut album under the title Dreaming Out Loud, which will be released on November, 20, 2007. There already is much speculation around this album, which is going to be a kick-ass creation. Let’s wait and see!

One of the most popular female pop-singers in the States, Britney Spears has recently released her first album after the 4-year break. The album under the title “Blackout” with the single “Gimme More”, which Britney presented at MTV Music Awards 2007 was accepted with applause among her numerous fans all over the world. I guess, it has become her second most successful single since the release of “Baby One More Time”. In fact, it has been estimated that her latest album could rack up more than 330,000 in week-one sales – and this is amazing. We can ask ourselves a question, why this singer is so popular with his/her new album without any special promotion campaign, and another one just fails… Well, Britney does have something behind, some special zest, which her each and every album so appreciated. Let’s hope that Britney will recover from all her present difficulties, and will continue to rejoice us with her great songs that will follow.
