 anthony-kiedis.jpg

Frontman for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis is in the inchoate stages of production with HBO on a television series ( I believe it will be an indefinite series and not a mini series) that will chronicle his own childhood. Tentatively named “Scar Tissue,” Kiedis and HBO execs want to detail the untraditional upbringing that Kiedis received as a child. Kiedis’ father, who was raised in a rather authoratative way, became a nuturing source for Anthony as a child and introduced him to the arts. At the same time however, Kiedis senior was reputedly one of the major drug dealers to huge acts like The Who and Led Zeppelin. Read more right here.

Playing Cold

So who is ColdPlay?  They are a group from England who make alternative music and they are also into liberal political ideas.  For example, they promote free-trade coffee and appeared in the move Make Poverty History.  It’s a cool group for other reasons too, though. They consider themselves “very heavy soft rock”, but they have been compared to Oasis and other groups.  Their newest album, Viva la Vida,  has sold a lot of copies and they are on tour to get people to buy them up. The album is very good and I encourage you to hear it!  Then, while you’re at it, you might as well go see them as well. Anyway, you can read more about them here.

Spears is back? :O

Yes she is, and looking quite foxy too. Gone are the mudflaps she sported at the VMAs during her last “attempt” at a concert and in is a new, uber fit physique. It’s all part of the big Britney comeback that started with her new music video “Womanizer.” While tour dates have not yet been made official, it’s only a matter of time before the huge Britney Bomb drops on America and a generation 7 years younger gets to experience her brand of pop music. Jim Post doing some shows

Jim Post has a few show dates ahead of him right now. Often, his shows have been one or the other of his Mark Twain series, Mark Twain and the Laughing River and Mark Twain’s Adventures out West. But he also intersperses it with performances of his earlier music, “New and Old Favorites”.  Jim Post, for those who don’t know, is a folk musician with great wit and a strong tenor voice.  His Mark Twain show is a one-man show in which he tells anecdotes from Twain and sings songs about Twain’s life and times. It’s highly entertaining and good to show your family. There aren’t a lot of comedy shows out there that you can take kids to see, but this one certainly works well.

After touring pretty extensively from January to September of 2008, the boys of the Foo Fighters have earned their respite.  After over a decade of fairly consistent original music, the Foo Fighers lineup may have changed from time to time, but the core is still their. The core being creative frontman David Grohl, formerly of Nirvana. Grohl’s commitment and energy levels towards his music mirror that of a teenager who’s just received his first guitar, and Grohl plans to continue his excellence. Keep up to date with the band and check out their website.

Oasis is making music and still going strong.  They have been making music since the early 90s and are still making impressive songs.  Recently, they signed a 3 album deal with Sony, of which the first album was released a few weeks ago.  They are now on tour to promote that album, with the help of Chris Sharrock, who will be playing music with them.  Their music has retained its popularity over the years both in Britain and in the US (and in other countries as well).  Their influences are the Beatles, The Who, Neil Young and others.  Anyone who has heard their music before and liked it should try to get to a show and see what it’s like.  If it’s as good as their music, then the show should be very entertaining.
