Fans of Ne-Yo is anticipating the release of his third album and even as he slogs over the recording process, the R&B crooner/songwriter has recently revealed that he might be a tad tired of making urban music all the time. This is not to say that the genre has not benefited him in the past. To date, his first two albums, laced with urban music elements, have both enjoyed being in the platinum certified category. Let’s not forget that Ne-Yo also co-penned Beyonce’s catchy hit “Irreplaceable”.
So will fans love or loathe his new album “Year of the Gentleman”, expected to hit record stores starting June 24? In his own words, Ne-Yo says that this album was made with a more “worldly” concept in mind. He quotes that he is taking a different path now just because he wanted to explore something that is exciting at this point of time. His record label, Def Jam, also agrees that it is time Ne-Yo explores new territory and they might just hit their goal of expanding their main target audience to encompass 16 to 24 year old girls.
