The Decembrist Colin Meloy is working to release his first live album. The album named “Colin Meloy Sings Live” is scheduled for release on 8th of April. The album is planned to release through the Kill Rock Stars. The album will have glimpses from Meloy’s 2006 tour and has many Decembrists tunes mixed to it. The new album has many cut in songs from Smiths, R.E.M, Fleetwood Mac and others. Music lovers have shown preference towards the Decembrists’ style of music as there is quality in song writing and music created by them.
Meloy is following his idols in music, Grant Lee Phillips and Robyn Hitchcock for creating this album. He wants to create more intimate feeling in his live album. Colin is planning a solo tour in April through U.S and will be performing in theaters as well as medium sized – clubs. The groundwork for the next record of Decembrists will start next month. During the April show the fans can expect some numbers from his live album. Meloy feels that performing in smaller Venues can create the feeling of closeness between the artist or the performer and viewers. His summer tour will start from Texas on 7th April and will end in Portland on May 3rd.
